MedSpeed’s Natalie Laackman named CFO of the Year by Chicago Chapter of Financial Executives International
Natalie Laackman, CFO of MedSpeed—a leading provider of same-day logistics services to the health care industry— was presented the CFO of the Year award by the Chicago chapter of Financial Executives International (FEI). Laackman was honored with the award for the large private company category. FEI Chicago Chapter’s Chicago CFO of the Year® Awards recognizes and honors area financial leaders who have made exceptional contributions to their organizations. Awards are presented in public, private and not-for-profit categories.
“We are proud of Natalie, who has absolutely earned this award for the strategic initiatives she initiated to make MedSpeed a stronger, and more profitable company,” said Wes Crampton, President of MedSpeed. “She put her personal stamp on our growing company and has become a true cultural ambassador for her direct teams, and MedSpeed as a whole.”
Upon joining MedSpeed in 2021, Laackman studied the company and its culture to thoughtfully create her improvement plans in conjunction with the company’s executive team. Among the changes she initiated:
- Fully revamped and expanded the company’s data analytics team. Balancing its focus between internal advanced metrics and customer-facing data science has enabled the team to offer clients benchmarks to assess their metrics compared to peers around the country. This strategy not only improved profitability in every MedSpeed market, but it has also provided clients with important and relevant information.
- Spearheaded MedSpeed’s “25 by 25” EV Campaign, which aims to have 25 percent of the company’s eligible fleet fully electrified by the end of 2025. Thus far, the program is saving hundreds of thousands of pounds of CO2 emissions annually.
- Decentralized some processes from headquarters to the individual field operations, which significantly reduced costs and improved customer service.
“I am extremely honored to receive this award from FEI, but it goes far beyond a reflection of my own efforts,” Laackman noted. “This is a testament to the incredible team I am privileged to work with every day.”
Laackman oversees MedSpeed’s finance, analytics, data science, risk, project management, fleet, supply chain and quality functions.
